1. Buzzwords
‘Brand cocktail party’ is a term coined by marketing writer Seth Godin to describe the role of marketers in branding. To explain that marketers don't get to control the 'conversation about the brand' he describes a scenario where the marketer gets to set the table and invite the first batch of guests, but after that the conversation is going to happen with or without them.

4. This month's book review The world according to Y - inside the new adult generation By Rebecca Huntley. Allen and Unwin 2006
Despite it reading like an academic thesis, this book provides a worthwhile insight into things we can not even imagine. You truly need to be Gen Y to 'get' Gen Y, but for the rest of us who need to communicate with them, employ them, sell to them or, before long, work for them, it's a great help.
It's less than 200 pages so not a big investment in time and $24.95 so won't break the bank either.
Gen Ys won't buy it though - they will get their people to IM it to their mobiles, you know, their third screens.
