This is m-news, M Power's monthly e-newsletter. We hope you enjoy reading it. Feel free to forward it to friends or colleagues who may find it useful.

M Power is a communication and events company. m-news includes information about related themes - four snippets about business, organisational and individual effectiveness, communication and public relations.

Communication empowers.

Karen Morath, managing director, M Power

The ‘fast four’ for September are

1. The new fast four
2. Telstra = PR101
3. Gratuitous plug
4. How to win a Nobel prize

1. The new fast four

In 2005, fast food is rarely fast enough and mobile phones invariably fail to support our desire to transact business wherever we roam.

After 38 issues over three years, our ‘quick six’ format is no longer lightning fast enough to equip its readers with snippets and tips on communication and related areas quickly enough.

m-news acknowledges life at the speed of light and launches this issue its new ‘fast four’ format.

 2. Telstra = PR101

Ask yourself whether ‘spin’ is legitimate.

Is it the obligation of senior executives of public companies to talk up the company’s interest, not to talk them down?

Or is it their role to communicate honestly and accurately about how the company is faring?

3. Gratuitous plug

We've said this before and we'll say it again and again........

We can't recommend highly enough the value to your functions of any kind of bringing in a speaker, a host/MC or an entertainer.  They lift a typical corporate event (people in a room with drinks by night and people around a table with water and mints by day) into something memorable.

M Power talent have recently hosted a school kids' planting day and done stand up comedy at a staff party - all to choruses of praise from very happy M Power clients.

For further information about an M Power speaker please call us on 9510 2592 or email us at email@mpowercct.com

4. How to win a Nobel prize

When Australian Nobel Prize winner Professor Peter Doherty was asked for his tips on how to win a Nobel prize, not surprisingly, public relations skills were a significant factor.

Among his tips for success were

'Learn to write clearly and concisely' and 'tell the truth'
